Newberry Mansion

Residential

History is sometimes forgotten history. It loses its presence in today’s world.

To set the stage, this residential project was inside a historic landmark building in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. While the exterior of the building holds true to its 1880s character, the residence had lost its identity.

My vision began by taking a neutral palette as a backdrop while introducing bold accents as a nod to the heavy decor of the home’s era and contrasting elements in order to bring depth to the space. The millwork and mouldings were designed to show off the 12ft ceilings while preserving the regal nature of the home. In order to coexist in the modern era, I introduced modern lighting and furniture with a mix of classic pieces.
